Panamarenko, the pseudonym of Belgian sculptor Henri Van Herwegen (1940-2019), is known for his innovative assemblages related to flight.
From 1970, he created scale models of imaginary vehicles, such as aeroplanes and helicopters, inspired by Icarus' dream of flight. Among his most notable works are the zeppelin The Aeromodeller (1969-1971), the Archaeopterix (1990) and the submarine Pahama Novaya Zemblaya (1996). The actual flying capability of his artefacts adds a mystery that enhances their appeal.

Jean-Michel Folon (1934-2005) was a Belgian artist famous for his illustrations and sculptures full of poetry and symbolism.
His works, recognisable by stylised human figures and dreamlike landscapes, explore themes of loneliness and hope. In addition to his success in the graphic realm, Folon also made his mark in public sculptures and design projects. His distinctive style and ability to move the viewer established him as a prominent figure in contemporary art.
